      • Rewrite: The entire code base has been rewritten from the ground up. Old layout techniques (tables) have been replaced with; Divs, HTML5, CSS3: makes the site easily convertible for mobile browsers.
      • Ajax and JSON: This new structure means the interface is ready for generating real-time data streams & reports.
      • jQuery: Most javascript has been replaced with Jquery (industry standard - comprehensively tested, browser independent).
      • Speed improvements: we’re using new technologies to render the traffic reports. Both the reporting interface, and the mechanisms (cloud-processing) for generating the numbers in the reports are state-of-the-art, and greatly improved in terms of performance / speed.
      • Infinite scroll: just scroll down tot he bottom of the page and keep scrolling to find visits from yesterday or a few hours ago. No more clicking next or hacking the url.
      • Column selector: customize the report you are seeing in the Online & recent visitors report. Select the columns that you want. This feature is sticky! Choose from the following: flag, country, city, region, isp, company/org, isp/org, provider, area code (tel), ZIP code, referrer, search term, status, number of visits, pageviews, total pages viewed, last visit duration, current visit duration, total duration, first measurement, operating systems, browser, resolution, IP address, country code. This is now sticky.
      • EZ-clickstream preview: open and view multiple clickstreams in main Online visitors report – each and every line of a visitor can be clicked (the whole line). This will expand the view to show Visitor Profile and the most recent visit by that person.
      • Thumbnail images of pages: hover your mouse over the red icon next to the page titles of any entry for thumbnail image of the page being viewed.
        Increased interactivity - Hyperlinks: within the visitor profiles it is now possible to click through to other reports for quick access: Operating systems,Browsers, and Resolution.
      • Increased visual aids - city maps: hover over city names for a map displaying city location.

    • All reporting pages are now build with html5 and css3
    • Improved colorscheme
    • Added icons to most UI buttons

    Script faq

    * How does it work?

    Sign up with your site name and an email address. We will send you an email containing a line of html code (a javascript), to place in the source code of your site. As soon as you have placed the javascript into your site you will be able to watch your traffic live.

    * Can I track dynamically generated pages?

    As long as your pages are html and people access them through a browser, Footprint is able track your pages. TIP: insert the javascript in a dynamically generated footer for site-wide deployment in a few clicks.

    What programming languages and content systems are compatible?

    Footprint is compatible with almost every language and/or CMS system we know of. You either add our code to your template, the footer, or look for "insert html," "upload javascript," or something similar in the technical support pages of your host.

    * Are there any known conflicts?

    No documented conflicts at this time.

    General faq

    * What am I looking at when I login?

    In the main information screen you are looking at a list of all (recent) visitors to your website. The visitors are presented in reverse chronological order. That means the most recent visitors are at the top of the list. There are three colors used;

    Green puppets are on the site at the moment
    Orange puppets have not clicked in the past few minutes and may be offline
    Red puppets have not clicked for more than 10 minutes

    * What else can I do? Hover and Click!

    You can click on, and hover your mouse over any of the visitor puppets;

    Hover: if you hover your mouse over a visitor puppet you will see their complete Visitor Profile

    Click: if you click on any visitor puppet you will be taken to their complete clickstream

    * Can I get in touch with my visitors?

    No, your visitors remain anonymous. Footprint will identify returning visitors and show you what companies, governmental agencies, organizations and universities are visiting your site, however Footprint does not provide personal (contact) information.

    Implementing script tutorial

    Implementing the Footprint javascript is easy

    When you sign up for Footprint you enter your email address.

    We will send you an email which contains your unique tracking javascript. In order to start watching your traffic live and collecting data all you need to do is place that javascript in the source code of your website.

    Static pages

    You need to use your html editor to upload the javascript to your site. You can use any editing program; Dreamweaver, Textmate, Coda, etc

    To avoid any potential conflicts (none documented), we recommend that you place the javascript just before the end body tag of your html content.

    Dynamic pages and content

    If your site has dynamically generated pages, inserting the script in your footer will implement the script sitewide with a few clicks.

    Content management with Wordpress, Joomla, Blogger, etc.

    Footprint can also be used in conjunction with any content management system; Wordpress, Joomla, Blogger, Drupal, etc
